The Bands from Murray Hill had an exciting and extremely successful day at the Music in the Parks Festival at Hersheypark on Saturday, May 4!!! The Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Band competed against many other schools from Pennsylvania and Virginia. They performed at Hershey and Palmyra High Schools in Pennsylvania and achieved the following results:
Wind Ensemble—1st Place—Concert Band I Division—EXCELLENT Rating
Symphonic Band—1st Place—Concert Band II Division—EXCELLENT Rating
Jazz Band—1st Place—Jazz Ensemble Division—EXCELLENT Rating
The Wind Ensemble also received the Outstanding Concert Band Award for the entire festival, receiving a rating higher than all other Middle School/Junior High Bands in attendance!!! They won this honor out of all six of the bands competing at the festival!!! And our Symphonic Band was only one point behind and was the band with the second highest score of the day!
The entire Band Department which includes, students, MHMS staff, and all our chaperones also received the highest honor of the day, the Esprit de Corps Award, which is awarded to the one school that shows grace, kindness, politeness, professionalism, and spirit and all the characteristics that make a great program!
It was an awesome day for the Music Department!!! With chaperones, students and other guests we had close to 200 people in attendance at this festival!!! We have so much to be proud of and thankful for with our outstanding musicians, parents and Murray Hill staff!!! They were amazing!!!
